Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the reliability of the checking function without erasing the contents of storage, by periodically calculating the contents of the address in a prescribed range of a storage device during the actual working and then comparing the result of calculation with the contents of a specific address. CONSTITUTION:When a main power supply 114 becomes faulty during its working to cause a voltage drop, a fault detecting circuit 121 detects this and this detection signal is supplied to a processor 111 in the form of an interruption signal. The processor 111 actuates a power supply changeover device 117 and connects a battery 115 only to an RAM116 to protect the storage of the RAM116. Then the idle time of the processor 111 is detected, and this idle time is utilized to carry out an addition from an address (m) to (n) of the RAM116. This result of addition is compared with the contents of an address n+1, and the coincidence or dissidence is detected to decide the working state of the RAM. Accordingly no erasion of the storage contact is caused at all since no breakdown is given to the contents of the RAM116 although the operation of the processor is discontinued.
