Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled filter medium wherein a stack of fiber layers constituting the filter medium is comprised of an upper layer, an intermediate layer and a lower layer which are composed of different electrically chargeable fibers respectively, with a density gradient layer provided therein, and sparking is prevented by using both a positively chargeable fiber and a negatively chargeable fiber.
CONSTITUTION: This filter medium has a three-layer construction of the upper layer (a), the lower layer (c) and the intermediate layer (b) which have different dielectric properties. The upper layer (a) is composed of positively chargeable fibers 1 having a large size of 10W30 denier, the lower layer (c) is composed of negatively chargeable fibers 2 having a small size of 10W3 denier, and the intermediate layer (b) is composed of a mixture of the fiber 1 used in the upper layer (a) and the fiber 2 used in the lower layer (c).
