Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove directionality to the flow of a gas to be tested from a sensor element by providing gas introduction holes opened in a louver at a position in front of the end of a sensor element and mixing well the incoming gas in the louver.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of slits 31 through which a gas to be tested flows are formed as communication holse round a louver 30. Those slits are positioned in front of an exygen sensor element 1 comprising a plate shaped membrane. A gas to be tested such as exhaust gas flows in from the slits 31 into the louver 30 and there repeats collision with the inner wall of the louver 30 and the plate shaped oxygen sensor base plate 1, and mixes well before it reaches the oxygen sensor element 1 to be measured for oxygen concentration. With this mixing the sensor element loses directionality to the flow of the gas although the element 1 is plate shaped.
