Abstract
PURPOSE:To assure and facilitate the sensing of the melted steel level by integrating values in th range from the lowest temperature and to the highest tempoerature in a curve of relationship between the position of each measuring unit in a mold and melted steel sensing temperatures, multiplying the result by a specified constant, and performing computation based on the resulting value. CONSTITUTION:The n number of the measuring units (n>4) are provided from a position 1 on the wall surface of the mold with an equal interval lo being provided. The curve of the relationship between each position and the melted steel sensing temperature is obtained at each time point, and the integrating is performed in the range from the lowest temperature point T1 to the highest temperature point Tn. Said integrated value is multiplied by a constat 0.1-0.8. Then, from the viewpoint of this value, the distance from the measuring unit 1 at the lowest temperature is computed from the relationship of a position P and a position (P+1) with respect to a virtual position XL of the melted steel. The distance from the upper surface from the mold to the measuring unit 1 is added to said distance, and the melted steel level SL is obtained. In this method, even though the melted steel level is changed to the large extent, the practically sufficient approximation value can be readily obtained without fail.
