Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of a tape for video recording and reproduction, by slowing down the tape speed without giving any modification to the mechanical parts, through the addition of an electric circuit to a video tape recorder. CONSTITUTION:At video recording, a video signal is applied from an input terminal 1 to a recording amplifier 2, one of an odd or even number of fields is given to a video recording/playback head 3 and recorded on a tape 4. In this case, a tape running mechanism 6 is controlled with a tape speed control 5, and the tape speed is slower than the normal video recording state. At playback, the video signal recorded on the tape 4 is played back at the head 3, reproduced and amplified 7, and applied to a delay circuit 8 and a playback signal switching circuit 9, and in the circuit 9, the signal from an amplifier 7 and the signal from the circuit 8 are switched and they are outputted to a terminal 10 as a playback signal.
