Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the heat exchanger for use in heating an oil feed tank of a rotary machine which uses high efficiency low pressure exhaust steam, by a method wherein an injected liquid is forced to take rotary motions within a circular arc shaped inlet header which is larger in section than a semi-circle of the same diameter and the liquid is taken out from a U-shaped heat exchange pipe projecting into the inlet header in the radial direction.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid injected from a nozzle 9 arranged on the circular arc shaped inlet header 7 at a position above the center of the header is forced to take rotary motions in the direction of the arrow A. As a result, a pressure is distributed through the header 7 in the radial direction and this pressure lowers as it leaves away from the nozzle 9. Further, the U-shaped heat exchange pipe 11 is inserted into the inlet header 7 in the radial direction in such a manner that the lengths of the projected portions of the pipe 11 are made shorter one by one as the projected portions leave away from the nozzle 9, whereby the pressure difference between the inlet side and the outlet side of the pipe becomes zero and the liquid can be flowed uniformly through the pipe 11, to thereby obtain a high heat exchanging efficiency.
