Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the coupling efficiency of a light source and an optical fiber by burying the light emitting unit of a semiconductor light source in the optical fiber and optically coupling both. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting unit 3 of a semiconductor light source is buried in an optical fiber 6, and both are optically coupled. It is adapted to form a reflecting film 7 by coating or the like on the end face of the plastic fiber 6. In this manner the coupling efficiency can be improved.
