Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled thermally stabilized resin composition with excellent heat- resistance, prepared by the incorparation of a monophosphonous acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Polyphenylene ether resin is compounded with about 0.01W10pts.wt. monophosphonous acid (e.g., ethylphosphonous acid) of the formula (wherein R1 is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R2 and R3 are each H or a hydrocarbon group similar to R1) or an ester of said acid (e.g., methyl ester of triphenylmethylphosphonous acid). It is possible to additionally incorparate a sterically hindered phenol compd. (e.g., 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methoxyphenol).
