Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce finely pulverized powder contg. no impurities continuously with good efficiency by evaporating a metallic wire material which is being fed in a high vacuum chamber by irradiation of laser light, allowing the same to stick on belt conveyors, and recovering the same in an adjacent low vacuum chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic wire material 6 such as Pt, Pd or the like is fed by a feeder 5 into the central part of a high vacuum chamber 1, and laser light from a laser oscillator 15 is irradiated to the leading end part thereof. Then, the laser light is absorbed by the material 6 and heats this quickly, allowing metallic molecules to scatter from the leading end part of the material 6. On the other hand, belt conveyors 9, 10 disposed above and below the material 6 are respectively feeding the belts facing the material 6 from cooling rollers 11 to the direction of heating rollers 12, and therefore the metallic molecules scattered in the chamber 1 stick efficiently on the surfaces of the cooled conveyors 9, 10. In a low vacuum chamber 4, the stuck metal is heated by the rollers 12, and is scraped by finely pulverized powder scrapers 13, 14. The powder is removed from the chamber 4.
