Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the rate of cooling and to improve quality in the stage of forming a casting mold using sand aggregate by flowing fluid for cooling of a low b.p. in the mold. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of molding a mold by using sand aggregate such as silica sand, zircon sand, chromite sand or the like, cooling pipes 2 which enclose the entire part of the cavities 3 of the mold 1 and through which cooling fluid of a low b.p. such as liquid nitrogen or liquid CO2 is flowed are buried simultaneously with molding. In the stage of casting, the cooling fluid is flowed into these pipes 2 to increase the rate of cooling of the molten metal cast into the cavities 3. The casting is made into dense and sound structure by this and the quality of products is improved.
