Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate a received picture, by detecting lines in error with a decoded output of an encoded picture signal at a reception side, and detecting an error of a synchronizing signal through the comparison between the number of received lines detected from the received synchronizing code and the total number of lines from a transmission side. CONSTITUTION:A a reading circuit 1 transmits a reading picture signal to a modulation circuit 4 with the instruction of a synchronizing code forming circuit 3 and a modulated signal is outputted 6 at the circuit 4. A synchronizing code formed at the circuit 3 is inputted to a line encoding circuit 5 and counted in addition to the circuit 4. On the other hand, a received picture signal is introduced to a demodulation circuit 12 and demodulated at a reception side device. A picture signal decoded 13 is detected at an error line number count circuit 16 and the synchronizing signal picked up 14 is counted at a line number count circuit 17, and the difference between the total line number transmitted from the transmission side and the received line number detected at the circuit 17 is detected 19.
