Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a case blank having good workability and wear resistance by employing Fe-Co-Si alloy containing mainly Fe as a material when forming a shielding case forming a magnetic head, melting it, injecting the molten alloy to the surface of a roller rotating at high speed and supercooling it. CONSTITUTION:When a shielding case forming a magnetic head is produced, Fe- Co-Si alloy containing mainly Fe is used as a material. The case is produced by composing of a heater 11 made of a heating tube 11b surrounded by heater elements 11b, a gas guide tube 13 having a nozzle 11c at the lower end under the heater 11, and twin rollers 12a, 12b disposed at both sides of the nozzle 11c. Thus, the tube 11a is first raised, the material 14 made of Fe, Co, Si is contained therein, is heated, and is molten. Then, the tube 11a is lowered, and is press-fitted into the tube 13, the material 14 is injected from the nozzle 11c, is thus blown to the surfaces of the rollers 12a, 12b, and is then supercooled, and a thin strip case blank 14' is formed.
