Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an impact printing head having small volume and fast printing speed by providing a piezoelectric unit utilizing vertical effect and a mechanism for transmitting the operation of the unit. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric or electrostrictive ceramic 10 is inserted between the first connecting mechanism 11 and the third connecting mechanism 12. The first and third mechanism 10, 12 are respectively bonded to a lever 14 and a stationary member 15. A pin 16 is bonded to one end of the lever 14. When the prescribed voltage is applied to the ceramic 10, a distortion caused by the voltage is generated in a longitudinal direction, is transmitted to the mechanism 11, and the lever 11 is moved. The lever 14 is rotated around a point of connecting the mechanism 13 to the member 15 as a center. The distortion of the pin 16 of the lever 14 is increased and is moved by this rotation of the lever 14.
