Abstract

PURPOSE:To deviate the phase of a sound wave generated from the outlet side of a main tubular body and improve the silencing effect with a simple construction by providing a multiplexed and spiral partition plate in a space between the inner cylinder and outer cylinder to divide the flowpath outside the inner cylinder. CONSTITUTION:An inner cylinder 4 is inserted into the inner side of an outer cylinder 3 both ends of which are connected to each of pipelines 1 and 2 at the inlet side and outlet side. A partition plate 5 partitioning the space in a double and spiral manner is provided in a space between the above both cylinders 3 and 4, and the flowpath between the cylinders 3 and 4 is divided into two spiral flowpaths 6 and 7. Further, one spiral flowpath 7 is partitioned in the midway by a partition plate 8. Accordingly, the sound wave propagated through the pipeline 1 is divided into a sound wave propagated through the flowpath 9 within the inner cylinder and a sound wave propagated through the spiral flowpath 6. Since the lengths of both flowpaths 6 and 9 differ from each other, the phases are generally different from each other at the outlet amalgamated point. Accordingly sound waves of the frequency component determined by the difference between the lengths of both flowpaths 6 and 9 are cancelled by the mutual interference and propagation to the pipeline 2 is prevented.
