Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent involving-in of powder which occurs at the meniscus of molten sheel, by specifying the setting position of electromagnetic coil and width of the coil when an electromagnetic stirring method is applied. CONSTITUTION:In an electromagnetic stirring method in which a linear type electromagnetic coil 2 is provided in the longer side 1A of slab continuous casting mold 1 and a molten sheet 6 is rotated horizontally in the mold 1, the electromagnetic coil 2 is provided so that the upper end reaches >=200mm. position below the meniscus of molten steel 6, and the width of electromagnetic coil 2 along the direction of longer side 1A of mold 1 is set to 0.4-0.7 times for the inner face width of longer side 1A of mold 1. In this way, a stirring flow velocity of molten steel 6 which is sufficient to grow homaxial crystals in the mold 1 and to wash inclusions solidified in the upper part in the mold 1, is obtained.
