Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a mold for molding an article having an undercut section, the mold having no split mold structure, and the releasability of the molded article being facilitated, by forming the section of the mold for molding the undercut section from a special flexible hollow body. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the event a panel 30 of a plastic is produced which consists of a surface section 31, a vertical periphery 32 and an inwardly extending undersurface piece 33, use is made of the mold 1 comprising a combination of main molds 2 of a heat-resistant rigid material and the hollow mold section 3 of a flexible material. Compressed air is forced into the hollow mold section 3 via a piping 8 to make the mold section 3 in a rigid state having a prescribed shape, and a material m0 all of whose sides are secured by a sealing clamp 11 is vacuum molded according to a conventional manner to produce a molding m1. Then after the air in the mold section 3 is exhausted to collapse it, the molding m1 is removed, and is cut as shown at C...C to remove an unneccessary part m2 to obtain the product panel 30.
