Abstract

PURPOSE:To synthesize encoded picture information and other picture information by real-time processing by enabling high-speed processing by processing two kinds of information which are encoded by run length and unencoded through hardware. CONSTITUTION:Picture information read out of an original 1 is binary-coded by a binary-coding circuit 6, and then processed by run-length encoding at a run- length encoder 7 to generate a picture signal, which is stored in a picture memory 8. this memory 8 has three-layer hierarchy structure and the 1st and 2nd pieces of encoded picture information from the encoder 7 and unencoded picture information from a character generator 155 are stored. The 1st and 2nd pieces of picture information stored in the memory 8 are synthesized through the hardware arithmetic of a picture synthesizing circuit 9. this synthesizing processing is controlled by a sequence controller 23 to select the 1st picture signal until the signal reaches an area to be synthesized, and once it reaches the area, the address is changed over to the 2nd picture signal for reading operation, enabling high-speed processing.
