Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic porous body of micropore sized foam structure with a light weight and high toughness by making the skeleton surfaces of a foamed resin conductive then packing conductive miro hollow-bodies into the foam and electroplating the same thence thermally decomposing and removing the resin.
CONSTITUTION: Conductive paint 2 contg. carbon is coated on the surfaces of a foamed resin skeleton 1 having open cells to provide conductivity thereto, after which conductive micro hollow-bodies 3 such as carbon or resin particles are packed in the foamed resin pores. Thence, metal of Ni layer 4 or the like is electrodeposited on the surfaces of the foamed resin skeleton 1 and the micro hollow-bodies 3 or the resin particles by electroplating. Thene, after rinsing and drying, these are heated to decompose and remove the skeleton 1 thermally, and the further heated, then these are reduced. According to this method, the metallic porous body of the micropore sized foam structure with about several W100μm pore sizes, porosities as high as ≥80%, and high flexibility and toughness is obtained. Such porous body is used for a positive plate or the like for alkali storage batteries.
