Abstract
PURPOSE: The induction coil surrounding the substrate to be heated which is covered with an insulation layer is divided into plural coil pieces to provide open spaces between them, thus facilitating its transportation and building-up and enabling the larger construction with easy venting.
CONSTITUTION: The substrate to be heated, e.g., of calcined carbon material, is heated through an insulation material of carbon powder 2 and refractory bricks 5 with the induction coil 3 up to the graphitization temperature. The induction coil is composed of coil pieces 31W34 piled up in the coil-length direction and connected electrically with secondary conductor 6 and the piled coils are bonded with mortar 7. Further the radial open space 8 is formed at the bottom of the coil pieces and the spaces are filled with breathing ceramic fiber 9. The gas evolving from the substrate or the insulation 2, when the temperature is raised, is led from the open spaces 8 in the radial direction of the coil to the outside and the open spaces as well as the gaps between bricks piled can cope with the increase in gas evolution in combinetion with passages for gas through interstices in the joints of a conventional brick work.
