Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a flanged steel pipe superior in quality, by constricting and deforming a boss part, which is preliminarily formed on a flange, together with the outside circumference of the steel pipe by the mold clamping action of a press jig to make this boss part and the steel pipe into one body. CONSTITUTION:A boss part 3 bent in the direction of a plane is formed on the inside edge of a flange part 2 of a polygonal or annular plane flange member 1 obtained by punching a steel pipe. After this boss part 3 is inserted to the outside circumference of a steel pipe 4, the steel pipe 4 is inserted into a supporting hole 7 of a lower mold 6 of a press jig 5. Next, an upper mold 10 of the jig 5 is inserted to the flange part 2, and an upper face 8 of the lower mold 6 and a lower face 11 of the upper mold 10 are clamped to hold and compress the flange part 2 between these faces. The outside circumference of the boss part of the member 1 is contracted toward the inside by a taper hole 9 of the lower mold 6, and simultaneously, the end part of the steel pipe 4 has the diameter expanded by a taper root part 15 of the upper mold 10. As a result, the steel pipe 4 is press-fixed to the inside circumference of the boss part 3 by a taper press- contacting face 16 which is so inclined that the diameter is expanded toward the outside circumference at the end part of the steel pipe 4. By this method, mass production of flanged steel pipes is possible.
