PURPOSE: To provide a green light-emitting fluorescent material having high luminous efficacy and color purity, giving a bright picture when used in a color picture tube, and represented by a specific formula and containing specific amounts of Y, Tb, Gd and Dy.
CONSTITUTION: A rare earth metal oxysulfide green light-emitting fluorescent material containing Y, TB, Gd and Dy and represented by the formula (0<x≤ 0.1, 0<y≤0.1, 0≤z≤0.1). Preferably, the content of Gd and that of Tb (x) satisfy the formula 0<y≤0.04-0.75x, and the content of Dy (z) and that of Tb (x) satisfy the formula 0.005-x/3≤z≤0.025-x/3.
