Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The pyrazole derivative of formulaI(X is halogen or 1W4C lower alkyl; A is ester-forming organic acid residue).
EXAMPLE: 1,3-Dimethyl-4-( 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl )-5-pyrazolyl-4-toluene sulfonate.
USE: Herbicide which is selective to main crops such as rice, wheat, soybean, cotton, etc., and kills the weeds e.g. perennial weeds such as arrowhead, flatstage, etc. annual monocotyledonous weeds such as monochoria, and broad- leaved weeds such as false pimpernel, toothcup, etc. at low concentration. Low- toxic to man, animal, fish and shellfish.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared e.g. by reacting the phenoxyacetyl halide of formula II (Hal is halogen) with 1,3-dimethyl-5-pyrazolone in the presence of a catalyst, and reacting the resultant compound of formula III with an acid halide.
