Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a titled member of superior electrical, optical, and photoconductive characteristics and use environment characteristics by providing a specific photoconductive amorphous layer on a substrate for electrophotography having a surface of Al2O3 contg. water of crystallization. CONSTITUTION:A barrier layer 102 of 30-1,000Angstrom consisting of an amorphous material[e.g.; a-SiaC1-a(0<a<1)]is provided according to need on a substrate 101 for electrophotography having an Al2O3 layer of 0.05-10mu thickness contg. water of crystallization. A photoconductive amorphous layer 103 contg. H or halogen and consisting basically of Si wherein a layer region contg. O at least in part thereof is provided, the distributions of O in said layer are uniform in the plane approximately parallel with the surface of the substrate 101 and are nonuniform in the thickness direction with more distributions on the surface side provided with the substrate 101 than the central part of the layer region, the content of O of the entire part of the region is 0.05-30atom%, the peak of the mol. wt. of 0.5-67atom% exists in the surface on the side of the layer provided with the substrate 101 or near said surface, is provided thereon.
