Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve characteristics by providing a nonpiezoelectric insulator layer in an area of a reed screen type electrode except a piezoelectric material layer in the shape of a weighting function, and by equalizing propagation speed of a surface wave in each area by adjusting the thickness of the piezoelectric layer and insulator layer. CONSTITUTION:On a nonpiezoelectric substrate 21, a reed screen type weighting electrode 22 is formed and on it, a piezoelectric material layer 23 in the shape 25 of a weighting function is further provided. Further, a nonpiezoelectric insulator layer 24 is provided in an area on the electrode 22 except the piezoelectric material layer 23. The thicknesses of the piezoelectric material layer 23 and insulator layer 24 are adjusted to equalize propagation speeds of surface waves. Thus, the distortion of wave surfaces due to the difference in the proparagion speed of the surface wave is eliminated to improve the characteristics of a surface wave device.
