Abstract

PURPOSE: To contrive energy conservation in a power source for power steering by a method wherein an oil pump is driven through an electric motor only at the time of operating a steering wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A gear box 24 incorporating a control valve 23 and a power cylinder is connected to the tip of an input shaft 22 for the steering wheel 21. The oil pump 25 is fitted to a part of the gear box 24 and is driven by the electric motor 27. At an intermediate part of the input shaft 22, a limit switch 30 is provided for detecting the revolution of the shaft 22. It is only when the limit switch 30 is made ON that the motor 27 is supplied with power to drive the pump 25. Numeral 28 represents an oil reservoir.
