Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out painting in order to form an extremely smooth painted surface skin by a method wherein a painting time capable of reducing orange peel generated on a painted surface of a steel pipe is preliminarily set and a painting booth distance and a steel pipe moving speed satisfying the same are determined.
CONSTITUTION: A powder epoxy resin is sprayed to a steel pipe 1 advancing to a direction shown by an arrow 4 from plural spray gun 3aW3e provided in a painting booth 2. When a spray painting distance between an inlet end of an inlet side spray pattern 5a and an outlet side of an outlet side spray pattern 5e is designated as lcm, a line speed of a steel pipe 1 as Vcm/sec and a max. time capable of reducing orange peel during a time from painting initiation to painting completion as T1, the electrostatic spray painting is carried out so as to satisfy a formula l/V≤T1. Thereby, defficiencies such as the orange peel or generation of unevenness due to blushing are eliminated.
