Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient battery by arranging a number of unit electrode groups which have zinc electrode groups planted on one side of a graphite current collector and chlorine electrode groups formed similarly so that a zinc electrode and a chlorine electrode face each other. CONSTITUTION:Parallel grooves are formed on one side of a graphite current collector at a uniform interval, and a zinc electrode of a thin graphite plate is planted perpendicularly in each of the grooves to make up a unit zinc electrode group A. Similarly, a chlorine electrode made of hollow porous graphite is planted perpendicularly in each of the parallel grooves formed on one side of a graphite current collector at a uniform interval, then a unit chlorine electrode group B is made. A unit zinc electrode group A and a unit chlorine electrode group B are arranged so that a zinc electrode and a chlorine electrode face each other. A certain number of unit electrode groups A, B are added to obtain a large capacity battery. Furthermore, these electrode groups may be arranged back to back to augment the capacity. Accordingly, a large capacity battery can be obtained advantageously.
