Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion preventive effect of the titled soln. obtained by contg. nitrite and a small amt. of phosphate in the solution and completely preventing copper alloys and carbon steel from discoloration and formation of rust. CONSTITUTION:This soln. for hydrostatic test for an apparatus constituted of carbon steel and copper alloys contains >=0.5% nitrite and 0.0025-0.0075% phosphate. This soln. has excellent corrosion preventive effect for copper alloys and carbon steel, and completely prevents said alloys or steel from discoloration and formation of rust after the completion of the hydrostatic test. Since this soln. is controlled of pH to approximately 7, it is easy to handle, and since the concn. of phosphate is low, it is inexpensive.
