Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition, prepared by polymerizing an aromatic compound having an epoxy group and an acryloyl group with acrylic acid and an ethylenic monomer containing acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, having improved storage stability, and capable of giving a film having improved water and heat resistance and good adhesive property.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic compound having average 0.5 or more epoxy groups and average 0.1W1.5 acryloyl groups based on one molecule, e.g. a condensate of bisphenol A with epichlorohydrin, is reacted with 0.1W0.5 equiva lent, based on one equivalent epoxy group in the aromatic compound, compound having one of the phenolic OH group, alcoholic OH group and carbocyl group in one molecule, e.g. formic acid, to give a reaction product (A). 10W90pts.wt. resultant product (A) is then mixed with (B) 90W10pts.wt. ethylenic monomer containing acrylic acid or/and methacrylic acid and a polymerization initiator, and if necessary an organic solvent is added thereto. The resultant mixture is then polymerized to afford the aimed composition.
USE: A coating material, adhesive, etc.
