Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the final treatment of tar residue and the regeneration of a filter for treating ammonium sulfate mother liquor by washing dil. sulfuric acid stuck to the tar residue obtd. from the filter and neutralizing it when NH3 in coke oven gas is recovered as ammonium sulfate.
CONSTITUTION: In the treatment of the above-mentioned tar residue stuck to filter 1 of the ammonium sulfate recovering facilities, ammonium sulfate mother liquor 7 in filter 1 from slurry vessel 6 is first replaced with process water 2. The amount and temp. of back washing process water in filter 1 are then adjusted with process water 2' and the amount of steam 3, respectively. Back washing is carried out by feeding warm process water of 70W80°C at such a flow rate as does not fluidize a packed bed in filter 1. After removing dil. sulfuric acid stuck to the tar residue by the back washing, the amount of ammonium sulfate mother liquor passing through filter 1 is adjusted. Thus, the tar residue in filter 1 is freed of the acid almost thoroughly, so it can directly be charged into tar decanter 4 of the tar recovering installation or a tar residue treating installation.
