Abstract

PURPOSE: To correct the vertical aperture while reducing or eliminating line crawl, by correcting the luminance signal by the signal obtained by slicing the signal indicating the level change of the luminance signal.
CONSTITUTION: Luminance signal Ea from image pickup tube 1 is not only supplied to adding circuit 3 and subtracting circuit 12 through process amplifier 2 but also supplied to delay circuit 11 to generate signal Eb. Signal Ec indicating level change of signal E is formed in subtracting circuit 12 by expression Ec=Ea-Eb, and this signal Ec is sliced by slice circuit 21 to obtain signal Ed indicating minute level fluctuation of luminance signal Ea. Signal Ed is subtracted 3 from luminance signal Ea to obtain luminance signal Ee without line crawl. Signal Ec from circuit 12 is supplied to clip circuit 24 and becomes vertical aperture correcting signal Ef and is supplied to adding circuit 3. Consequently, since signal Ef is added to signal Ee, luminance signal Ey without line crawl components and with the vertical aperture corrected is obtained from circuit 3.
