Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable only one tool to cut and grind a workpiece without needing two times of centering by enabling one spindle to cut and grind a hole. CONSTITUTION:The inner surface of a hole opened in a workpiece is cut by a cutter 2 which is moved vertically with about 100mm./min of speed and any selected rotational frequency. The surface is cut to have a bore slightly smaller than the predetermined dimension. Then a cone rod 13 is depressed to project a grinding tool 9 radially. The grinding tool 9 is moved vertically for grinding with about 30mm./min of speed and rotational frequency smaller than that in the cutting. Thus, the workpiece does not need to be sent from a cutting machine to a grinding machine, but can be subjected to an efficient operation.
