Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to generate high-temperature heat and to use it as a heat source for cooking and ironing, by adding little water to a powder or fine particle mixture of an alkaline earth metal oxide and P2O5.
CONSTITUTION: A P2O5 powder is mixed with at least one powder or fine particle of oxides of Mg, Ca, Ba, etc., is a dry atmosphere, and the resulting mixture is kept in a sealed container. Upon expasure to air by breaking the seal, said mixture absorbs moisture and the both components react with each other, to generate high- temperature heat. Because it takes a certain time to generate heat, water is added to or a bulking agent containing water is mixed with, the heat-generating composition, if quick generation of heat is required. For example, stainless steel container 2 is placed in metal container 1, on the inside of heat-insulating material 3, in which a mixture of CaO and P2O5 is admitted. Heat is generated by the addition of little water to the mixture. For example, the inside temperature of composition 6 reaches 650°C and the other wall temperature of the container 2 reaches 535°C. It is preferable to mix an alkaline earth metal oxide with P2O5 in a ratio of 10:90W90:10.
