Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the mechanical strength and the corrosion resistance greatly by adding Sb to thin magnetic metal film layer. CONSTITUTION:A mother alloy material for the magnetic layer is formed by adding Sb to ferromagnetic alloy comprising, e.g., Co-Ni. The optimum range of the amount of addition is 0.1-10wt% depending on the applications and functions of the magnetic recording media. Then, the magnetic thin film layer is formed on a specified base material by sputtering evaporation and the like. In this constitution, the mechanical strength, i.e., abrasion resistance can be remarkably increased, and the corrosion resistance can be greatly improved.
