Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermosetting polyester resin composition capable of forming paint film which is good in discoloring resistance, smoothness, weather resistance, and mechanical characteristics from a polyester resin, a silver compound, and a phosphite.
CONSTITUTION: One hundred pts.wt. a polyester resin (A) having a softening point of 30W170°C and a molecular weight of 500W20,000, obtained from a dicarboxylic acid containing 20W50mol% unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and a polyhydric alcohol containing 10W40mol% 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, is mixed with 0.001W1.0pts.wt. (as Ag) a silver compound, e.g., silver nitrate, silver 2-ethylhexanoate etc., and 0W1.0pts.wt. a phosphite (C), e.g., trialkyl phosphite of the formula P(OR)3 (where R is a 1W12C alkyl group), etc.
