Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the use of collators efficient by deciding the large or small of the total sheet number of gathering or sorting with respect to the gathering or sorting capacity for the entire part of the collators connected and determining whether gathering or sorting is to be performed. CONSTITUTION:Gathering number or total copy sheet number to be sorted is inputted to a memory register. Whether this gathering or sorting information is larger than the total bin 2 number with the whole of the collators K1, K2,... connected, that is, total handling capacity or not and whether it is larger than the effective gathering capacity or effective sorting capacity with respect to the entire empty bins having no sheets or not are decided by a control circuit. Based on the results of this decision, whether the gathering or sorting is to be done at one time by successively using the empty collators K or is to be done dividedly in plural times or is not to be done at all is determined by the control circuit and this is executed. In this way, the gathering or sorting may be easily performed without the cumbersome evaluation by the operator.
