Abstract

PURPOSE:To make production process simple and reliability high by forming the end of an optical fiber cord to a predetermined shape then molding the same to a plug body. CONSTITUTION:A metal sleeve 14 is provided on the outside circumferent of an optical fiber core 4, and a reinforcing fiber 9 is provided thereon, thence a sheathed wire 13 is provided thereon. A rubber tube 12 and a metal sleeve 11 are successively provided on the sheahted wire 13, whereby the end part of the optical fiber cord is formed. The thus formed end part is molded to the plug body 1 having beforehand been molded, whereby the plug is formed. As a result, the need for adhesively fixing the fiber core 4 to the sleeve 14 is eliminated, and the process may be simplified. In addition, the adhesion between the sheathed wire 13 and sleeve 11 and rubber tube 12 becomes perfaet, whereby the air-tightness of the plug inside is improved and its reliability may be enhanced.
