Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an arom. polycarbonate compsn. in which melt elasticity and fluidity in a molten state are improved, by a method wherein two kinds of polycarbonates are blended together in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Arom. polycarbonates of the formula (wherein R1, R2 are H, 1W 3C alkyl; X1WX8 are H, halogen) are used in the following proportion. 65W90wt% of a polycarbonate of the formula and having a reduced viscosity of 0.455W0.525 (A) is blended with 35W10wt% of a polycarbonate of the formula and having a reduced viscosity of 1.4W2.25 (B) to form a polycarbonate compsn. having a reduced viscosity of 0.56W0.83. The above polycarbonates can be produced, e.g., by a conventional method in which bisphenol A and phosgene are used. The polycarbonate having a required reduced viscosity can be obtd. by adjusting the concentration of a chain terminator which is used in a polymn. reaction.
