Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate hydrogen from other gas in a mixed gas by passing the mixed gas through a solid electrolyte membrane, at a specified temp., made of perovskite type oxide contg. Sr and Ce as principal components and a specified metal.
CONSTITUTION: Airtight chambers are placed at both sides of a solid electrolyte membrane made of perovskite type crystal forming oxide contg. Sr and Ce as principal components and a metal selected from Sc, Y, Nd and Zn, and a mixture of hydrogen and other gas is introduced into one of the chambers at 100W1,400°C. The other chamber is then evacuated to separate pure hydrogen gas.
