Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a rise of load voltage and improve efficiency by a method wherein the conductive time of a transistor at the input side controlled in response to output from a converter is detected, and a resistor is inserted in parallel with load only when load is light. CONSTITUTION:The primary winding of a transformer T and the transistor TR, are connected to a DC power source Ei, and DC currents are fed to load L through a smoothing circuit from the secondary winding of the transformer. The conductive time of the transistor TR1 is controlled by means of a control circuit 2 so that output voltage at the load side is fixed. The conductive time of the transistor TR1 in the case when currents flowing through the load reach some value is previously set, a normal time comparison circuit 3 generates output when the conductive time of the transistor TR1 becomes to the set time (when light load), and a switch SW1 to a resistor R1 connected in parallel with the load L is closed.
