Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the reduction of the discharge ability of a lead storage battery and increase the life of the battery, by reducing the utilization rate of a positive active material to below a given value. CONSTITUTION:The utilization rate of the positive active material of a lead storage battery is made below 45%. In such a case, it is preferred that the ratio of the positive active material to the negative active material is not less than 1.5 in terms of electrochemical amount. Furthermore, in a pasted lead storage battery, the thickness of the plate including the positive active material is preferred to be not less than 2mm.. Here, the volume of the holes of the positive active material after a chemical treatment is preferably should be not more than 50% of the whole positive active material. Besides, it is preferred that the volume proportion of the inner holes is smaller than that of the surface holes.
