Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a caustic alkali such as caustic soda, an phase transfer catalyst such as ammonium salt of formula I (R1WR4 are 1W18C alkyl, benzyl; X is halogen) or a phosphonium salt of formula II, and water, the reaction of sucrose such as granulated sugar with acrylontirile is conducted in a solvent such as acetone at 10W40°C for 3W6hr or the reaction between sucrose, acrylonitrile and an alkylene oxide such as ethylene oxide is effected to produce the objective compound with a cyanoethyl-substitution degree of higher than 7.5 per sucrose unit, a high dielectiric constant, a low dielectic loss, and a high heat resistance.
