Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out an effective high temperature desulfurization, by removing dust in the first moving bed filled up each medium at first and recovering heat and after that, completing the reaction by the second moving bed utilized said heat, on occasion of desulfurizing the gas containing sulfur by Claus reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Gas containing hydrogen sulfide or sulfur dioxide obtained by gasifying heavy oil, coal etc., is mixed so as to contain each component and sulfur is separated by Claus reaction. On this occasion, desulfurization medium particles, such as alumina or bauxite particles, having a high strength, are filled up in the first moving bet A and second moving bed B divided with each other and dust is removed at a temperature of melting point of sulfur or more in the bed A at first and next, the reaction is completed at said temperature or less in the bed B. At this time, sensible heat of desulfurization medium particles from the bed A, is recovered by treating gas of the bed B. Thus, an effective desulfurization is continuously carried out even in a high temperature range.
