Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the residual magnetic flux density of a thin strip of an amorphous magnetic alloy and allow the strip to show favorable characteristics as a magnetic core material by applying a linear magnetic field intersecting the longitudinal direction of the strip at a predetermined angle to the strip while heating the strip.
CONSTITUTION: While heating a thin strip of an amorphous magnetic alloy at a temp. below the crystallization temp. and Curie point of the alloy, usually ≥200°C, a magnetic field intersecting the longitudinal direction of the strip at a predetermined angle, preferably about 45W90° is applied to the strip. The intensity of the field is ≥ about 10e by which the strip is almost satd. By this method the residual magnetic flux density of the strip is lowered, and B-H characteristics can be controlled immediately after the manufacture of the strip. The resulting strip is suitable for use as a magnetic core material for a DC bias coil, etc.
