Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect an extraneous metal stuck into a tire and prevent an accident due to puncture, by providing a metal detector, which is made of a magnetism- sensitive Hall element, in the vicinity of the tire such as the inside of a fender. CONSTITUTION:An electrical current is caused to flow through the excitation coil 10 of a metal detector 1 to generate a magnetic field by a core 8 and a mount 3. Some of the magnetic flux passes through a Hall element 7. As a result, prescribed pulses appear on an output terminal 19. When an extraneous metal sticks into a tire 15, the metal passes through the magnetic field and the density of the magnetic flux which passes through the Hall element 7 fluctuates so that pulses dependent on the rotation of the tire 15 and the speed of a vehicle appear on the output terminal 19. When the frequency of the fluctuation in the output reaches a prescribed value, a warning signal is produced. The sticking of the extraneous metal into the tire is thus surely detected to prevent a puncture accident.
