Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a coating compsn. which is particularly useful as a wall covering material and forms a three-dimensional pattern by heating, containing a thermal expandable microsphere and a film-forming component.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a coating compsn. contg. a film-forming component and a expandable microsphere which can be expanded by heat. The thermal expandable microsphere used can be obtd. by the micro-encapsulation of a component which generates gas within the shell of a thermoplastic resin by heating, pref. an org. matter having a lower boiling point than the softening point of the thermoplastic resin. Examples of the thermoplastic resins which are used as the shell of the expandable microsphere, are an acrylonitrile-vinylidene chloride copolymer and a vinyl acetate-acrylonitrile copolymer. Examples of the components which generate gas by heating are propane, butane and azobisisobutyronitrile. The expandable microspheres having a particle diameter of 5W50μ are used.
