Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the picture information storage memory and ensure a sufficient isolation even for a low-contrast original, by obtaining the density distribution information of the original surface through the preparatory scanning and then deciding the threshold level based on the above density distribution information. CONSTITUTION:Density level counter 10 including the counters 0-31 which increase the count value according to the signal level supplies picture signal MS obtained through the preparatory scanning having the double speed in the secondary scanning direction by selecting the signal of one of output lines l0-l31 which passed through AC converter 12 and decoder 13.
