Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce titled foam having excellent flame retardancy, by reacting an aromatic polyisocyanate with a polyol mixture containing polyethylene glycol having a high hydroxyl value and a polyalkylene glycol having a high hydroxyl value, in the presence of a catalyst etc.
CONSTITUTION: Titled rigid foam is produced by (a) preparing, as a polyol component, a polyol mixture containing 20-70wt% of polyethylene glycol having a hydroxyl value of at least 300 and 80-30wt% of polyalkylene glycol having a hydroxyl value of at least 300, (b) employing, as a catalyst, at least 0.05 pt.wt., per 100pts.wt. of polyisocyanate, of a compound containing at least an alkali or alkaline earth metal and (c) employing, as polyisocyanate, an aromatic polyisocyanate, in an amount which is 3-15 times eq. to the total weight of active hydrogen- containing compounds.
