Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the play of the engagement area between a piston to use the material which differs in a fusing point from the joint area of a connecting rod and in which the joint area is collectively cast and the connecting rod and to enable smooth movement by providing the piston.
CONSTITUTION: When a connecting rod 31 is pre-manufactured and a piston 30 is cast, a steel ball which forms a joint area 32 is inserted in a mold and light alloy material is cast. The joint area 32 is cast in the piston 30, but it differs in a fusing point from the steel ball which forms the piston area 32 and thereby is not fused. After the piston 30 is cast, the engagement end face of the joint area 32 is cut and a paly area 33 is provided. This permits the joint 32 to smoothly slide for the piston 30 in any direction, to perform its smooth movement without any play, and to improve its durability.
