Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a link chain of high strength, high toughness and corrosion resistance by carburizing or carbonitriding the link chain then directly inserting the chain in melt liquid of the specific component composition thereby hardening the link chain.
CONSTITUTION: The link chain comprising iron and steel is carburized or carbonitrided, after which it is directly inserted into the melt liquid of the composition comprising 10W70% Sn, 5W40% Cd and 20W60% Bi preferably at ≤250°C in the state of that atmosphere, whereby it is cooled. This makes it possible to obtain the link chain which is tough and has wear and corrosion resistances. In addition, this allows the combination of heat treatment and plating into one treatment and therefore the considerable reduction in the treating process is made possible.
